Meghalaya couple case-wife Arrested in Alleged Plot of husband murder

On June 9, 2025, significant developments have emerged in the Shillong honeymoon couple case. 

Sonam Raghuvanshi, the wife of Indore-based businessman Raja Raghuvanshi, has been missing has been arrested along with three others for allegedly orchestrating her husband's murder during their honeymoon in Meghalaya. 

The couple, married on May 11, 2025, disappeared on May 23 while exploring the Sohra area. Raja's body was discovered on June 2 in a gorge near Wei Sawdong Falls, bearing signs of murder, with a bloodstained machete found nearby and some of his jewelry missing. Initially, authorities suspected Sonam might have been missing or trafficked, but she surrendered to police in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh

Meghalaya Police has interrogate the accuse and  it has came to the light that Sonam hired hitmen to kill her husband, possibly motivated by an extramarital affair with a man named Raj Kushwaha, who is suspected to be the mastermind behind the plot. A key lead came from a tourist guide who reported seeing the couple with three men on the day they vanished. Sonam’s family has denied the accusations, blamed meghalaya police for fabricating story against sonam-calling for a CBI investigation, while Raja’s family alleged foul play against Sonam and demands justice. The investigation remains active, with police exploring interstate connections to unravel the full scope of the case
