A public dispute between Itanagar Capital Complex Deputy Commissioner (DC) Talo Potom and local MLA Techi Kaso has escalated, centering on allegations of misuse of authority and delays in the construction of National Highway-415 (Packages B and C) from Papu Nallah to Banderdewa. The controversy, which unfolded during a public function in Itanagar on April 19, 2025, has sparked debates over administrative accountability and infrastructure development in Arunachal Pradesh’s capital region.
Techi Kaso, the MLA representing Itanagar, accused DC Talo Potom of deliberately stalling the highway project to protect his private property in the Nirjuli area. Kaso alleged that Potom abused his authority by altering the right of way for Package B of NH-415, a critical stretch of the highway, to prevent demolition of his personal assets. The MLA claimed this interference is a primary reason for the prolonged delays in completing the project, which has inconvenienced residents and hampered regional connectivity.
The NH-415 project, aimed at improving connectivity in the Itanagar Capital Region, has faced repeated setbacks, including land acquisition issues and logistical challenges. Packages B and C, covering key urban and peri-urban areas, are vital for easing traffic congestion and boosting economic activity. Kaso’s allegations suggest that administrative decisions have prioritized personal interests over public welfare, intensifying public frustration over the stalled infrastructure.
